The Story of Tunip the Dog

Kurt is my cousin Wendi and her husband Steve Toohey’s second child. He and Alice Deruy (a beautiful French girl) were married in September 2018 in France, in what can only be described as the perfect wedding. They lived in Sydney for over 6 years, and visited Kurt’s folks in Yerrinbool often. They would always make a point of seeing Steve’s Mum, Shirley and would often catchup with us at our place, Wendi and Steve’s, or out and about somewhere down in the Southern Highlands.

I shared my story of my writing experience with my grandkids and niece’s kids with Kurt and Alice many times. And I also bonded with Leo (their eldest son, born in 2019) who, although only young, was an avid reader and story teller, So, like Wendi and Steve, we were sad to learn that Kurt and his family were moving to France in December 2024 - INDEFINITELY.

And so we said our sad goodbyes on 5 December over some tea and cake at our place. We were sad to see them all leave.

So we were ecstatic and surprised to see that Tunip was born from the above 4 month's later, as you’ll read in Kurt’s introductory letter of April 2025, followed by Leo’s story of Tunip. accompanied by some of Kurt’s AI magic.
